21A- Reading Reflection 2

What was the general theme or argument of the book?
The book I selected was Makers - The New Industrial Industry. The theme of the book was the changing of the culture of entrepreneurship. New entrepreneurs have much more opportunity than they previously had and can be successful without the usage of large corporations. Therefore, they do not have to give up as many aspects of their product.

How did the book enhance with what you are learning in ENC 3003?
The book talked about how to be a successful entrepreneur in today's unique market. The market has changed and a smart entrepreneur will now know how to work their way around the loopholes. The book also talks about the rise in technology in entrepreneurship. As the world advances through time, technology will progress as well. The book does a good job of encouraging entrepreneurship with a focus on technology.

If you had to design an exercise for the class based off the book you read what would it be?
I would make an exercise to focus more on technology. However, the business school has a separate critically required class to advance knowledge about Microsoft functions. So essentially this information is already covered. An exercise this class should use is to give resources to the students to connect with people who will sponsor their idea.

What was your biggest surprise when reading the book?
My biggest surprise from reading the book would be Anderson's idea of open organization. His theory states that instead of working s paid job for an organization, they will volunteer for company's ideas they like instead. It is an interesting theory but I don't think it would be practical. For this to happen, society would have to move an increasingly accelerated liberal pace, which I don't see as practical.
