8A - Solving the Problem

My problem : The problem I selected for my previous blog posts involved scooter helmets, or the lack thereof, on campus.

Background Information: After talking to many of my peers and constructing many interviews, the majority of my peers believe that there is a scooter helmet problem on campus.

Solution: My solution to the problem, or opportunity, to the problem is to make a new helmet that students would wear. My belief is that students currently do not wear helmets based off of a perception that it gives off. If the helmets were designed in a sleeker manner, more like motorcycle helmets, I believe more people would wear them.

Below are ways entrepreneurs and society can benefit from a new scooter helmet:

1. There is a market for research of the helmet. A smart entrepreneur could pursue this to create a helmet college student would wear.

2. There is an opportunity for individuals who want to manufacture this product.

3. There is also an opportunity to sell the items retail or wholesale. New Scooters For Less would be an example of a company who would sell the helmets retail. New Scooters For Less could buy the helmets in bulk from the factory that manufactures them.

  1. Hi Ryan,

I like your approach on creating a more attractive and stylish helmet rather than just trying to make the current one more popular. From my experience, the unattractive look and the annoying loop to buckle it is definitely a turn off or seen as a hassle to a lot of students. I think with a new style or change in trends, helmets could be more popular.
