1. You
- My name is Ryan Brown and I am a sophomore finance major at The University of Florida. I love to immerse myself in social situations and enjoy meeting new people. I am passionate about finding solutions to problems I see in society, and hopefully one day can work in a field where I help people fix their daily problems. If I were to go in on this business idea, I would have to be fully immersed and devout all my time towards fixing the problem. I am excited to run with this business concept, as I feel it would truly help people from a safety perspective.
2. What are you offering to customers?
- I am offering students and Gainesville residents a new type of scooter helmet. I want to design a sleeker scooter helmet, much like that of a motorcycle helmet. I believe this will meet the unmet need of helmets in Gainesville, as very rarely do I see a scooter rider wearing a helmet. A smart investor could see an opportunity within the manufacturing of these helmets, wholesale of the items, and retail sales of the item.
3. Who are you offering it to?
- As stated above, I am offering this initially to UF students and Gainesville residents. I believe that this idea could be used for residents of other cities with scooters as well. The one trait that my customers all have in common is owning a scooter. If I can target an audience who is aware of the dangers of riding a scooter without a helmet, I will do well in marketing my product.
4. Why Do They Care?
- Individuals will care about my product due to safety reasons. Every year, there are multiple students who get seriously injured or die in the Gainesville area on scooters. While these helmets cannot one hundred percent prevent tragedies like this, they can limit the amount of damage and maybe save some lives.
5. What are your core competencies?
- The core competency of this idea is the design. I have been under the assumption that people do not wear the helmet currently because of the design. I am not aware of any company who currently makes scooter helmets designed to look like motorcycle helmets.
I believe my idea works well together and could be very successful. The only two constraints I can think of are cost and the design issue. These helmets may be more expensive to make due to their design. The design may also be hard to make appealing towards college students. I hope to overcome these challenges and market my idea successfully.
Hi Ryan,
ReplyDeleteAs I mentioned before in previous posts, I think this is a great idea for students. I rarely see students wearing helmets when they are riding their scooters and I think that is extremely dangerous. Creating a nicer look of helmets will draw students' attention in purchasing them. Overall, I think it's great idea and you did a nice job putting it all together!
